Kelowna Chiropractor - Advanced Biostructural Correction (ABC) is a system of adjusting and analyzing the spine and body that facilitates the body's recovery from distortions and injuries, leading to overall health and wellbeing.
In a spinal column that is in part stuck in a forward position, improper tension or fixation of the meninges causes a misaligned vertebra to become locked out of position. ABC could help adjust the body by releasing whichever tension that has built up in the meninges, the tough, elastic coverings of the brain and spinal cord that protect the spinal cord and brain and act as an elastic stabilizer (like a big rubber band). The meningeal system runs from the tailbone to the head to help hold the spinal column together. Before the vertebral column can be easily adjusted, the meningeal system has to be dealt with so that the whole spinal column, skull, ribcage, shoulders, pelvis, legs and feet work together as a single unit.
The basis of the ABC system concentrates on the adjustment of the vertebrae and various bones within the body that cannot be manipulated or repositioned on its own. Within the spine, just those vertebrae that have become stuck in a forward, or anterior, position must be adjusted since the body has no way of pulling them backward. There are no muscles below the neck that pull vertebrae backward (since the muscles pull forward).
The ABC protocol allows the spine start to unwind and uncoil, somewhat like a big spring. After that it could correct itself, even if the injury is several years old. The ABC protocol even lessens pressure on the brainstem and spine caused by the forward spinal tension. For the first time in what could be lots of years, tense nervous tissue is allowed to relax, restoring normal nerve flow.
